The great people of the earth today are the people who pray. I do not mean those who talk about prayer, nor those who say they believe in prayer, nor yet those who can explain about prayer; but I mean these people who take time and pray. They have not time. It must be taken from something else. This something else is important, very important, and pressing, but still less important and less pressing than prayer. There are people that put prayer first, and group the other items in life's schedule around and after prayer.

Biography
It is not that God is stingy and must be coaxed, for He "giveth liberally and upbraideth not." It is that we ourselves are so shallow and sinful that we need to tarry before Him until our restless natures can be stilled and the clamor of outside voices be deadened so that we can hear His voice. Such a state is not easily reached, and the men God uses have paid a price in wrestlings and prevailing prayer. But it is such men who rise from their knees confident of His power and go forth to speak with authority.

Sorge, Bob The Fire of Delayed Answers By Bob Sorge This book helps clarify why the answers to our prayers may be delayed and gives practical advice for walking in faith and hope until God's release comes. If we are to mature into greater dimensions of kingdom fruitfulness, then we must commit ourselves to understanding how God uses delay to refine His chosen ones. Intensely passionate and practical, this book is written from the crucible of the author's own personal crisis of delayed answers. This is not a book of platitudes but of powerful insights that have come through the fire. May your heart be enlarged and your faith expanded as you consider the great blessings extended to those who wait in God alone. |
There are four ways God answers prayer: 1) No, not yet; 2) No, I love you too much; 3) Yes, I thought you'd never ask; 4) Yes, and here's more.

The Invisible War: What Every Believer Needs To Know About Satan, Demons and Spiritual Warfare By Chip Ingram / Baker The Bible is clear: if you are a Christian, you are at war. But our approach to spiritual warfare usually falls into one of two extremes - either we place an undue emphasis on Satan and his powers or we completely ignore the existence of a personal enemy. The Invisible War offers believers a balanced look at what the Bible says on the subject. Based on Paul's teaching in Ephesians 6, The Invisible War shows every believer what we need to know about Satan, demons, and spiritual warfare. Find out how to: "There's no room for platitudes or vague, spiritual answers to pressing, difficult questions," says Chip Ingram (Love, Sex, and Lasting Relationships ). The Invisible War will help you understand your position in Christ, put on the full armor of God, and stand firm against the enemy. |
That is the secret of true prayer, of true power in prayer, of real, living, face to face fellowship with God, and of power for service. there is no true, deep conversion, no true, deep holiness, no clothing with the Holy Spirit and with power, no abiding peace or joy, without being daily alone with God. What an inestimable privilege is the institution of daily secret prayer to begin every morning. Let it be one thing that our hearts are set one.
Andrew Murray
Biography And Works
To strive in prayer means to struggle through those hindrances which would restrain or even prevent us entirely from continuing in persevering prayer. It means to be so watchful at all times that we can notice when we become slothful in prayer and that we go to the Spirit of prayer to have this remedied. In this struggle, too, the decisive factor is the Spirit of prayer.
Ole Kristian O. Hallesby
Brief Biography
Prayer is simple, prayer is supernatural, and to anyone not related to our Lord Jesus Christ, prayer is apt to look stupid.

My Utmost for His Highest
Spread out your petitions before God, and then say, "Thy will, not mine, be done." The sweetest lesson I have learned in God's school is to let the Lord choose for me.
Dwight L Moody
Brief Biography
We know not the matter of the things for which we should pray, neither the object to whom we pray, nor the medium by or through whom we pray; none of these things know we, but by the help and assistance of the Spirit.
