Come work for the Lord. The work is hard, the hours are long, and the pay is low, but the retirement benefits are out of this world.

Life is way too short to waste time doing average things, since average things produce average results. I would rather search for the greater things in life and die searching; better this than to never search and always wonder.

This book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the travelers map, the pilgrims staff, the pilots compass, the soldiers sword, and the Christians character. Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand object, our good is its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is given you in life and will be opened in the judgement and will be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

Count your gains instead of your losses,
Count your joys instead of your woes,
Count your friends instead of your foes,
Count your courage instead of your fears,
Count your health instead of your wealth,
Count on God instead of yourself.

It doesn't matter, really, how great the pressure is; it only matters where the pressure lies. See that it never comes between you and the Lord - then the greater the pressure, the more it presses you to His breast.

Some Christians spend the first six days of each week sowing their wild oats, then they go to church on Sunday and pray for a crop failure.

Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that he will.

God never alters the robe of righteousness to fit the men, but the men to fit the robe.

Money will buy a bed but not sleep, books but not brains, food but not appetite, finery but not beauty, medicine but not health, luxury but not culture, amusement but not happiness, a crucifix but not a Saviour, a temple of religion but not heaven.

Jesus, within you I lose myself, without You, I find myself searching to be lost again.

He who breathes into our hearts the heavenly hope, will not deceive or fail us when we press forward to its realization.

At the times when you remember God, increase your prayers, so that when you forget Him, the Lord may remind you.

The best cure for loneliness is developing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

Spend your time in nothing which you know must be repented of. In nothing on which you might not pray for the blessing of God. In nothing which you could not review with a quiet conscience on your dying bed. In nothing which you might not safely and properly be found doing if death should surprise you in the act.

Naturally, in striving for a time to pray, there will be arguments concerning our mission, duty, and responsibility. Some people will consider such devotion to prayer as neglecting our mission, forsaking our duty, and impairing our responsibility. The enemy will use such matters as duty and mission to create his best arguments for stopping our prayer.

Journey Home: A Walk with Bob Benson By Bob Benson Bob Benson was never at a loss to capitalize on an idea. This particular idea hit him on our family trip to Europe. When we arrived at the London airport, all around us tour groups were being met by very official looking leaders that carried tall signs over their heads with the name of their group displayed. Bob decided that if they could have a sign, he could too. In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Bob Benson's death, his wife, Peg, and family friend and writer Karen Dean Fry offer you a rare opportunity to share intimately in the life journey of this special man. The journey Home includes reflections from many whose lives Bob touched, include James Dobson, Amy Grant, Gloria Gaither, and others. Their words are a tribute to his legacy. |

Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee,
Trust Him when thy strength is small,
Trust Him when to simply trust Him
Seems the hardest thing of all.
Trust Him, He is ever faithful,
Trust Him, for his will is best,
Trust Him, for the heart of Jesus
Is the only place of rest.

Humility is the way for us to open communication with the merciful God of heaven. It is far better to pray in a private "room," be unseen by man, and have the approval of God than to give a public display of prayer and have a heart full of pride.
